Shapes and colors make me happy.
I like abstract paintings. I like Picasso. I like solid colors - blue, red, yellow, green and orange. Sometimes I like neon. I like geometric lines and shapes. I'm particularly fascinated with squares. Not so much with waves and unclosed curves. I don't like Baroque-inspired designs. I don't like paintings of the Madonna and Child, farmers in the field, flowers in vases, and fruits in baskets. They hurt my eyes.

"I believe that imagination is stronger than knowledge
That myth is more potent than history.
I believe that dreams are more powerful than facts -
That laughter is the only cure for grief.
And I believe that love is stronger than death."

You Belong to Me
See the pyramids around the Nile
Watch the sun rise
From the tropic isle
Just remember darling
All the while
You belong to me
See the market place
In old Algiers
Send me photographs and souvenirs
Just remember
When a dream appears
You belong to me
And I'll be so alone without you
Maybe you'll be lonesome too
Fly the ocean
In a silver plane
See the jungle
When it's wet with rain
Just remember till
You're home again
You belong to me
Oh I'll be so alone without you
Maybe you'll be lonesome too
Fly the ocean
In a silver plane
See the jungle
When it's wet with rain
Just remember till
You're home again
You belong to me

What's Up
Twenty - five years and my life is still
Trying to get up that great big hill of hope
For a destination
And I realized quickly when I knew I should
That the world was made up of this brotherhood of man
For whatever that means
And so I cry sometimes
When I'm lying in bed
Just to get it all out
What's in my head
And I am feeling a little peculiar
And so I wake in the morning
And I step outside
And I take a deep breath and I get real high
And I scream at the top of my lungs
What's going on?
And I say, hey hey hey hey
I said hey, what's going on?
Ooh, ooh ooh
And I try, oh my god do I try
I try all the time, in this institution
And I pray, oh my god do I pray
I pray every single day
For a revolution
And so I cry sometimes
When I'm lying in bed
Just to get it all out
What's in my head
And I am feeling a little peculiar
And so I wake in the morning
And I step outside
And I take a deep breath and I get real high
And I scream at the top of my lungs
What's going on?
And I say, hey hey hey hey
I said hey, what's going on?
Twenty - five years and my life is still
Trying to get up that great big hill of hope
For a destination
I used to read entries at the Portia Logbook at the Portia Room when I was new to Portia. They say “I love Portia!” I used to wonder if I’d ever get there.
I did. :)
Sometimes, I admit, I get this not-so-good pangs about Portia. Like I get tired of all the activities and all the commitments (SORRY!!!). I don’t think being human is a legitimate excuse for feeling all these, but maybe, just maybe, that’s really my reason. I’m human – I get burnt out sometimes, I feel selfish sometimes, I get all existentialist sometimes, I might even feel like an escapist sometimes. After all, law school is a really stressful endeavor, and well, Portia IS a law-based sorority. :) So my guess is, it happens to the best of us, but for the sake not only of our commitments, but also for our own, we have to overcome whatever not-so-good feeling it is that we feel.
At the end of the day, Portia really is ALL ABOUT SISTERHOOD. At times we may feel lost. I think maybe it’s good faith that keeps us going. It’s not just about loyalty, or secrecy, or trust, or excellence, or discipline. It really is GOOD FAITH. When you’re in your lowest point, and you don’t trust EVEN YOURSELF, what else could keep you going? It’s your sisses who remain strong not only for themselves, but also for the sisses, for you.
This is what happened to me. :)
And I appreciate so much that I can talk to just about any of my sisses. Like I can blurt out anything that’s been driving me crazy. And I don’t know if it’s because misery loves company, but I feel better when some of my sisses do that to me too. :) I’ve never been used to the concept of sisterhood, and I always doubted how it is possible to get a grasp of real sisterhood by just being sorority sisters. But Portia does that! It surprised me, but I cannot doubt it, there is NO DOUBT. It’s true. :)
Portia keeps me going. And because of this, I can’t imagine ever turning my back on Portia. I have transcended “serving” Portia to “loving” Portia for what it truly is – SISTERHOOD. It’s about having GOOD FAITH, A PURE HEART. :) I don’t even mind the activities and the commitments anymore. Well, maybe it could conflict with my other plans sometimes, but I won’t turn my back on Portia, ever. I will always find a way to make up. You know, like with people you really love? Like when sometimes you fail your mother, or your boyfriend, but you find a way to make up somehow. It’s like that. :)
I’m so lucky to be a Portian. I am sooooo proud to be a Portian. I love Portia. :)
