Shapes and colors make me happy.
I like abstract paintings. I like Picasso. I like solid colors - blue, red, yellow, green and orange. Sometimes I like neon. I like geometric lines and shapes. I'm particularly fascinated with squares. Not so much with waves and unclosed curves. I don't like Baroque-inspired designs. I don't like paintings of the Madonna and Child, farmers in the field, flowers in vases, and fruits in baskets. They hurt my eyes.

"I believe that imagination is stronger than knowledge
That myth is more potent than history.
I believe that dreams are more powerful than facts -
That laughter is the only cure for grief.
And I believe that love is stronger than death."

You Belong to Me
See the pyramids around the Nile
Watch the sun rise
From the tropic isle
Just remember darling
All the while
You belong to me
See the market place
In old Algiers
Send me photographs and souvenirs
Just remember
When a dream appears
You belong to me
And I'll be so alone without you
Maybe you'll be lonesome too
Fly the ocean
In a silver plane
See the jungle
When it's wet with rain
Just remember till
You're home again
You belong to me
Oh I'll be so alone without you
Maybe you'll be lonesome too
Fly the ocean
In a silver plane
See the jungle
When it's wet with rain
Just remember till
You're home again
You belong to me

What's Up
Twenty - five years and my life is still
Trying to get up that great big hill of hope
For a destination
And I realized quickly when I knew I should
That the world was made up of this brotherhood of man
For whatever that means
And so I cry sometimes
When I'm lying in bed
Just to get it all out
What's in my head
And I am feeling a little peculiar
And so I wake in the morning
And I step outside
And I take a deep breath and I get real high
And I scream at the top of my lungs
What's going on?
And I say, hey hey hey hey
I said hey, what's going on?
Ooh, ooh ooh
And I try, oh my god do I try
I try all the time, in this institution
And I pray, oh my god do I pray
I pray every single day
For a revolution
And so I cry sometimes
When I'm lying in bed
Just to get it all out
What's in my head
And I am feeling a little peculiar
And so I wake in the morning
And I step outside
And I take a deep breath and I get real high
And I scream at the top of my lungs
What's going on?
And I say, hey hey hey hey
I said hey, what's going on?
Twenty - five years and my life is still
Trying to get up that great big hill of hope
For a destination
In the spirit of recapping 2005 and moving forward to 2006, I decided to review the resolutions I made for this year, to see if I learned from my mistakes in 2004 at all.
(1) DAMMIT DIET Didn't do this. Lost 7kg in the third quarter of the year by sheer stress, gained maybe 3 more this month by sheer stress again (the other side of it). Will work on this again next year...
(2) DAMMIT EXERCISE Haven't exercised even ONCE in this year. Maybe next year?
(3) DAMMIT DRINK WATER NOT COKE NOT C2 NOT ICED TEA NOT COFFEE NOT GODDAMN BEER!! My favorite line this year was "Go Large". Failed again. I really should start drinking more water.
(4) DAMMIT STOP LUNCHING OUT IF YOU CAN HELP IT Couldn't help it. I became a field person this year. I'll be easier on myself next year. Maybe affordable lunches / value meals should be my goal next year.
(5) MINIMIZE THE NIGHTLIFE I guess I've minimized the strobe light kind of night life, but blogging at night has become a convenient replacement. Have to work on this again next year. But I guess this could still count as "done" since I was referring to the strobe light kind of night life. :)
(6) SLEEP EARLY WAKE UP EARLY Did this from May to June when I just moved to CDO. Well, old habits die hard so I'm back at being an owl by July. Ibn's been nagging me about this lately.. I really should start doing this. I know this is a major source of my recent stress problems.
(7) SPEND MORE TIME PREPARING IN THE MORNING FOR VANITY! Did this from May to June 2005 again. Back to usual self by July. Yes, next year I'll do more of this if I want to start feeling better about my self.. And I'll also spend more on vanity at night (I'm gonna start on Enuh's Pond's regime next year). This is after all the year I started noticing wrinkles and fine lines and shit, not just a multi-layered middle, but worse.. a sagging double chin! Shit.
(8) SPEND MORE MONEY FOR VANITY, BUT LESS, LESS, LESS ON GIMMICKS Hmm.... I spent less on gimmicks, but MORE on plane tickets!!! I guess I failed this. As for the vanity thing, well... I'm working now for a vanity company!!! So a lot of my vanity stuff are for free! :)
(9) SPEND MORE TIME REFLECTING YES! This is something that I've done this year. Truly!
(10) DO NOT SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF. DO NOT LET THE ROSARIO AND C5 TRAFFIC AFFECT YOUR DAY! Hmm... I still sweat the small stuff, but I guess the stuff I considered small at the start of 2005 are now much smaller? So I think I see a progress in this part. :) I do believe that this year, my patience and determination were really put to the test. I'm still alive and surviving, so I guess that's good.
(11) SAVE MONEY **MOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN** When will I ever learn this? All I've proven this year is an economic theory about income and expenditure. Next year, that must change!
(12) FIND RACKETS No rackets. Just a small investment in something I'm sure is worthwhile. Next year, I'm thinking about venturing into a small business.
(13) DO SOMETHING ABOUT YOUR WANTING TO TEACH AT UP Didn't do anything about this, except that I continue to work in a prestigious company. Before December ends, I have plans... (Hey! 2005's not over yet!!!) hehehe
(14) CONTINUE TO SEEK KNOWLEDGE Hmmm... Does taking the LAE (finally!) count? Once more, as I said, I have plans before the year ends...
(15) TAKE A LEAP INTO THE FUTURE! I guess I did this year. Yeah, I guess I did. :)
So where do I stand? I'd say I definitely failed 8 of my 15 resolutions. That's a failing grade for myself. I can't believe I haven't improved that much from 2004! Oh well, next year, I'll try again with these resolutions.
I'll think about some more resolutions for next year, and maybe I'll post them in January 2006. :)
